MUSIC IN EDUCATION
Keeping Music Alive
My life as a musician, writer and performer has always been integrated with education. It is my belief that music is the glue that joins all subjects of study together; a study of music can deepen our ability to comprehend and communicate.
For over twenty years I have taught music in schools, colleges and universities, centres of special needs, prisons and community centres. I hold regular immersive ‘guitar retreats’ and facilitate a wide range of workshops.
I have 25 years experience as a writer, performer, producer and educator, Grade 8 Classical Guitar and a BA Hons degree in Music
I am determined to share the best of my musical knowledge and ability.
Far Flung corners is my most recent project; a musical collaboration inspired by the connections and differences, past and present, of landscape, culture and language within the British Isles. (Click the link below for more info)

'Alex is a fantastic and Inspiring guitarist and guitar teacher. He taught me from the age of about 10 to 15, and encouraged me and helped in so many ways... even after I'd stopped taking lessons with him. Alex has played such a massive part in my musical journey so far, and a massive part in me becoming a pro musician myself. Cannot recommend highly enough!'
Sam - ex-student
'I can highly recommend Alex as a teacher and musician and all round good guy. He has worked with us in the past on our Guitar Retreats teaching groups of adult students over a whole weekend with excellent results and great feedback.'
